The Madras High Court has made it clear — only the Court can close an FIR, not the police! 🛑

📌 Here’s how it works:
🔹 Once an FIR is registered, a copy goes to the Judicial Magistrate Court.
🔹 Police must investigate and submit a charge sheet to the court.
🔹 If evidence is lacking or the FIR is wrong, police can file a closure report — but the court decides what happens next.
🔹 The court calls the complainant for their opinion.
🔹 The complainant can file a protest petition to continue or reinvestigate.
🔹 Only then can the FIR be closed.

💡 This ruling by Justice Velmurugan ensures FIRs aren’t closed arbitrarily by police without court oversight.
