Ever since his kit was revealed, many have theorycrafted about how well OG Red works with Gladion. His trainer move, the first to give the Supereffective Up Next effect to an ally, works very well with Gladion's entire gimmick of always dealing super effective hits, and they also share a type skill. Gladion's damage doesn't really compare to many top-tier damage-dealers, but the boost from OG Red lets him catch up quite well.

I tried out the core across three boss battles: the Extreme Battle Event Unity Gala Challenge, Champion Stadium, and the Cobalion Legendary Arena. Here's how each battle went and the sync grids used:

Gladion got quite a lot of attention at the start of the Unity Gala, being one of the few units that can output enough damage against Lear. I've used him with Kiawe and Acerola before (   • 3 EX Rivals take on the Unity Gala Extreme...  ), and now he's bringing along his new BFF as well as who is, IMO, the best unit for this stage not named Anni Lillie - Elio. I was lucky enough to get a second copy in a daily scout, so he becomes a better tank for this stage with Sentry Entry to make Lear's Snatch more manageable. Red was quite lucky in proccing MPR for his trainer move several times, which gave Gladion more turns of dealing boosted moves and syncs. I was also surprised that Red was able to live through the entire clear!

Vs. Koga (Johto Champion Stadium): EX Gladion / OG Red / Event Bugsy - https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github....

Probably the best use of this core, as you're guaranteed to only have one weakness to deal with, and Gladion's trainer move means he's a good pick against almost every Champion Stadium stage. I went with Koga for this clear since I would realistically use these two against him this week since I don't have a Flying-type unit EXed. Event Bugsy is one of the best picks for the third slot IMO, as he completes Gladion's buffs, provides gauge support, and most importantly debuffs enemy defenses to boost Gladion's damage even more. I used the omni-debuff special parameter partly to help Bugsy with his debuffing, but mostly to minimize the effect of the special parameter to the damage. That 26k sync nuke at the end was really satisfying to see!

Vs. Cobalion (Legendary Arena): EX Gladion / OG Red / BP Lt. Surge - https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github....

Fortunately Cobalion's one of the few legendary arenas that doesn't change its weakness mid-battle, so Gladion could deal good damage throughout the fight. If Elio's one of the best picks against the Extreme Battle Event, BP Lt. Surge is one of the best picks against this fight, since he provides both crit buffs and paralysis. And just like the Unity Gala Challenge, I also had to rely on Red's trainer move MPR proccing several times given how long this battle lasts. I misplayed a bit in the end by not going for Body Slam on Red to fish for a paralysis proc, as I thought he would faint from Cobalion's attacks. But thankfully Gladion was bulky enough to finish the job.
