Oh, how i wish i could say that, and mean it. i couldn't put into words what i actually meant until now. This is a song about my artist friends. The split in my mind and heart between admiring them as artists, and loving them as friends. And how it can go both ways, in four separate directions. i’ve taped over memories of my life with art, made by friends or by strangers. And i’ve realized, sooner than many, that loving their art is not comprable to loving them as people. Not a single strum of her guitar will play when Sam and I go on a walk together. Not a single key of her piano will be struck when Roi and I are riding the metro to a far off place in london. Not a melody she made was on my mind when I hugged Jordyn. Not an ounce of the atmosphere she effortlessly creates was felt when I shopped with Aspen. And yet, I will cherish all of those memories as much i cherish their beautiful music.
