In the case of agiti cultivation, there is not much harvesting of desi dhania, it is spread on the ground and its harvesting is a bit difficult.
Climate:
Produces more in moderately cold and dry climates. In hot and dry weather, not only the growth is affected but also the coriander gives very little yield. In severe cold the color of its leaves turns reddish green. If the temperature rises suddenly during seed ripening, the blight disease adversely affects the quality and yield of the seed.
Seed rate:
Seed rate depends on the type of seed, land preparation, time of cultivation, method of cultivation, purpose of cultivation (cultivation for seed or green coriander) and soil structure, health and fertility. If one year old seed is cultivated, it gives better growth. old The seed germination can be achieved up to 80%. The seed rate details are as follows.
A - Agiti cultivation:
It is recommended to use more seeds (at least 1 maund per acre) in case of agiti cultivation in hot season. One year old 30-25 kg per acre in case of sports cultivation by sowing in September-October. The seed is planted. But 15 to 16 kg of seed with more than 60% germination should be used on the edges of fields.
B - Medium Cultivation:
8-10 kg per acre is recommended for drill sowing in October-November. good birth It is necessary to cultivate 40-35 thousand Coriander plants per acre for Var. Distance between coriander plants should be maintained at 3 to 4 inches and lineon at 1.5 feet. For good yield, it is necessary to cultivate 70 to 75 thousand plants per acre for green coriander.
Fertilizers:
It is recommended to apply 20-35 to 25-50 kg of nitrogen and phosphorus per acre to coriander, depending on the soil, climate, time of cultivation and method of cultivation. One third of this nitrogen and all phosphorus should be added at the time of cultivation. The remaining nitrogen should be applied in installments within 35 to 50 days after planting. Also, after every harvest, if additional nitrogen is added with irrigation, then the next harvest will be prepared quickly. During severe heat, when the color of coriander starts to turn light green or reddish, urea fertilizer should be applied to the seeds a week before harvesting. For this, potash fertilizers along with phosphorus should be added to the cultivated crop.
Irrigation:
Coriander requires five to seven irrigations depending on the soil structure, time of cultivation and irrigation source. But high-growth and late-growing crops require three to five additional waterings. Apply the first water carefully to the coriander grown on the field. The second and third should be filled with water to complete the growth. After that water should be applied as required. Canal water should be preferred instead of tube well for better production of coriander.
Cultivation Time:
In central Punjab, green coriander can be cultivated during September to November. Today's climates are warming longer than in previous decades. That is why, instead of sowing in August, the growth of coriander cultivated after mid-September is better. But coriander can be grown successfully even in July or August by adding straw etc. along the river and in cool lands.
Cultivation method:
In Punjab, after spreading the seed in the prepared land, it is cultivated with the help of a rake. Green Coriander grown on fields gives more yield.
A - Cultivation for seed:
Coriander can be cultivated in two ways to produce seeds. The first method is to cultivate in rows with the help of a drill on leveled soil. In such a case, 9 to 12 inches of plants and 2 feet of rows should be kept.
B - Cultivation by square:
In the case of small-scale cultivation, cultivation can also be done at the above-mentioned distance (by placing squares) on the edges of the two-foot fields. Cultivation can also be done in light wet soil by the chhata method.
