In this video, we're reviewing a new soldering station ACHI IR-6500, which is an advanced version of the earlier IR-6000 station.

The package includes:
✓ a preheater
✓ a power cable
✓ a temperature probe, a USB cable, additional holders
✓ screws and a hex key for station assembly
✓ a disassembled PCB table
✓ the top heater (to be installed on a tube)
✓ a reflective tape
✓ a CD with software

Even a quick visual check makes it clear that the new product has a number of major improvements compared to the earlier model.
Let's have a look at each of them in turn.
✓ First, we'd like to note a protective glass cover the bottom heater, which protects the heater from mechanical damage and improves heating uniformity.
✓ Another notable feature is a standard K-type thermocouple.
✓ Thanks to included drivers for 64 bit and 32-bit operation systems, data from the station may be synchronized with a PC via a USB interface.
✓ The back panel is equipped with auto switches, which increases general reliability of the system.
✓ The PCB holding table has stayed largely unchanged. It's used for holding PCBs of rectangular or other shapes, for example, laptop motherboards. Additional holders are provided for that purpose. You may actually fix a PCB of any size and any shape.

Let's now have a closer look at controls.
As already mentioned, there are auto switches on the back panel of the station.
Front panel features two temperature controllers. The left one deals with the bottom heater, and the programmable one controls the top heater. There is also a lamp switch button and a button for turning on the cooling fan situated on the top heater, as well as two buttons to start and stop the soldering process. This soldering station uses the same type of temperature controllers as other ACHI models.

The parameters of heating components are similar to the earlier IR-6000 model. The bottom heater measures 180 by 180 mm and has a power rated at 800 W. The size of the top heater is 80 by 80 mm, and its power is 400 W.

The key point we'd like to make is that, despite the fact that this soldering station is slightly more expensive than the earlier one (by some 10%), it's absolutely free of any weaknesses of the earlier model, which had been eliminated in its development. Thus, the operational specifications of the device have improved exponentially.
