Line and Color Quick Start Guide: https://www.thedrawingcodex.com/quick...

In this video I cover the basic drawing concepts you need to create balance within the figure.

A lot of my advice in this video is aimed at creating a realistically proportioned figure. And that when we are aiming for solid drawing like this we want to stick to the way the body naturally moved and functions. This is obviously something you can change if you have a more cartoony style (Think One Piece or Traditional Disney Animation or a similar exaggerated style... in that case you can bend the limbs as much as you want.

But! I do suggest that the more you can learn to create the right pose with hard bones that don't bend much... the easier it will be to really let it rip and create super dynamic poses once you do start to bend and stylise the way limbs look!

Apologies the sound recording was a bit distorted in places for this one. I tried to fix it with some voice over in parts, but overall the quality is not what I would class as professional. I thought I would post it anyway, but please keep this in mind. I will do another version of this sometime in the future.. so any questions you have please let me know and I can use that to build an even better video next time!

Here is the previous video talking about grounding the character and avoiding awkward feet! :

If you want to learn about the techniques I am using based on the Loomis Method you can check out these videos:

Building The Figure -    • Learning To Draw The Figure From Imag...
Posing The Figure -    • Learning to Pose Your Character Drawi...
Different Body Types -    • Learning to Draw Different Body Types...

Drawing an Action Pose -    • Practice Drawing An Action Pose | Dem...

With most types of stylised types of art - There is often a mix of structure and perspective and technical drawing.... combined with symbols and abstract features.

Once you get good at blocking in proportion and posing with the Loomis Method you can use it to suit your own style.

It's just a tool you can use to help you draw cool stuff!

Happy Drawing!
