As part of its campaign on the north EULEX asked individuals in the north of Mitrovicë/a what questions they would pose to EULEX. EULEX senior staff then gave their responses.

Question: Well, my question is from human rights area, why EULEX Human Rights Review Panel is not better promoted among citizens, citizens do not know about existence of this Panel, that's my question why campaign wasn't better?

Answer: "The European Union established the Human Rights Review Panel in 2009 with a mandate, basically, to review alleged human rights violations by EULEX Kosovo in the conduct of its executive mandate. To promote our work and make ourselves known to people, in 2011 we focused on different municipalities in the North, including Mitrovica north and Zvecan, however, our efforts were significantly thwarted by the events that happened at the common crossing points at end of July 2011. In 2013, the Panel will further intensify its outreach efforts throughout Kosovo, making its mandate and work more known to people. In this regard, we also hope to be able to implement a Kosovo wide TV and radio outreach campaign. If you believe that a member of EULEX has violated you basic rights while exercising official duties, you can file a complaint with the Panel. It is important that a complaint is filed within six months of the alleged violation. Also, if complainants do not want their names to be made public, the Panel will protect their identities. Your complaint will be reviewed by a Panel of experts, who are independent from EULEX.
