This video uses quarter notes, eighth notes, and quarter rests in a new and exciting way. Divide the class into 4 groups; each with a different instrument or sound. I didn't include specific instruments in the video since teachers have access to different instruments, but see video intro for my suggestions. Then assign each instrument a color and have them play their rhythm when their color is lit up. Older grades might be able to be successful the first time through, but most classes will need a little rehearsal to get it right. Whether you are working for musical accuracy or just a fun rhythm game to play with your students, I guarantee this one will be fun!

To extend the activity; after students have played one instrument, have everyone rotate to a new instrument category and play again! Each rhythm is a new challenge and kids learn from repetition.
