Lanterns swing and candles glow,
Wind is singing soft and low.
Footsteps rattle, mugs collide,
It’s Halloween on the tavern side!
Hold your mugs, good folk, beware —
The graveyard’s sending guests tonight!
If you see bones begin to dance,
Don’t scream — just join them right!
Out from the ground the skellies came,
Clacking bones and sparks of flame.
They bowed to the moon, they grinned so wide,
And waltzed straight in with ghostly pride.
The chairs jumped back, the floorboards groaned,
The bard just laughed, “The dead have honed!”
The barkeep sighed, “Well, pour them ale!”
The night begins — no one will fail!

They drank their ale — it poured right through,
Across the floor, a foamy brew!
The barkeep placed a bucket near,

Two skellies fought, they lost their heads,
Still arguing what one had said.
Three hundred years, the same old feud —
Now ribs and skulls in ale were stewed!
Clap, clap, stomp the ground,
Hear that lovely rattling sound!
Magic night, no need for breath —
Even bones can laugh at death!

They bounce apart, then join the crew!
One leg flies past the fiddle’s string,
But still keeps tapping — what a thing!
Two skulls met under the bar,
Sparks of love from bones afar.
“Nice teeth,” said one, “you shine so bright.”
“Your grin,” said two, “could light the night!”
They rolled together, side by side,
And danced beneath the tavern’s pride.
No heart, no flesh, yet still they swayed —
For love in bones is never decayed.
