Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two nation visit to Oman and Jordan later this month, underlining India’s deeper strategic and economic push across West Asia. In Muscat, the spotlight will be on the pending India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), along with energy cooperation, security coordination and diaspora welfare. With over 676,000 Indian nationals living in Oman and annual trade valued at around $12 billion, the relationship remains one of India’s most stable and trusted links in the Gulf.
In Amman, Modi will meet King Abdullah II to enhance economic cooperation, investment flows and regional security coordination. Jordan has steadily expanded ties with India, with bilateral trade climbing to $2.875 billion and Indian investment in phosphate and textile sectors crossing $1.5 billion. The visit also fits into India’s broader West Asia strategy that maintains parallel engagement with Israel, Arab states and continued vocal support for the Palestinian cause. New Delhi is expected to host the India-GCC ministerial meeting early next year, strengthening India’s position in the region’s shifting geopolitical landscape.
