DIY Making A needle Felted Fox-- PART 2

Описание к видео DIY Making A needle Felted Fox-- PART 2

Welcome back! If you made it through PART 1 of making this red fox, we're now ready to start bringing it to life with its "fur." In this portion we'll get through the paws, legs, belly, chest, and underside of the tail. Again, supplies are listed below.

Be patient with yourself, some of these areas (like the paws) are really challenging because they are so small. I have some footage at actual speed so you can see how very slowly I felt those places. Most of the footage is sped up because I can't expect anyone to watch18 hours of video, but I also didn't want to cut anything.

MATERIALS

In addition to the materials used in PART 1, you will need "fox colored" wool rovings. I get all my wool through various Etsy sellers. You do not have to have the exact colors I used, and you probably only need an ounce, or half ounce per color. If you do an image search for red foxes you will see there is great variation in their coats depending on the age, time of year, and individual genetics of a given animal. So this is pretty forgiving in terms of how you make your fox.

-white ("natural white" or any white roving)

-black("liquorice" or any black roving)

-dark gray/charcoal/cool gray

-medium brown

optional later your might want a darker brown for eye details

-tannish orange ("butterscotch" or any warm tan/light brown color should be fine)

-reddish orange (I used a Nutmeg Ashland Bay Merino from "slimchicken" on Etsy)

-medium orange (I used a Pumpkin Ashland Bay Merino from "slimchicken" on Etsy, but Pumpkin not currently available, so here is a possible alternative)

In the final part of the tutorial (PART 4) you will also be adding whiskers. For the whiskers I used KANEKALON doll hair (from DollyHair.com) in the color Kool Black. I like this for whiskers in any animal that will have whiskers no longer than half an inch or a centimeter long. If they get too long they get droopy with weight. I have tried other types of doll hair or toy pony hair and they are more droopy and do not work even with very short whiskers.
