America's Most Hated Airport Remodeling PLAN for 2026 - JFK International Airport

JFK Airport serves as New York City's primary international airport. It is also the busiest of the seven airports in the New York airport system, the thirteenth busiest in the US, and the busiest entry point for foreign travelers into North America. There are nonstop or direct flights from the airport operated by more than 90 airlines to locations on each of the six continents where people live. And with all these responsibilities, the airport is always packed, and it seems there is always congestion. Yeah! There is always congestion in NYC, but it is too much in JFK, which is why the government decided to make some improvements to it.

The development of the airport was unveiled by Andrew Cuomo's office on January 4, 2017, who is the former Governor of New York. Most of the airport's current infrastructure will be renovated, and it will cost $7 to $10 billion dollars. According to the Airport Master Plan Advisory Panel, JFK, which was listed as the 59th best airport in the world out of 100, would likely face major capacity issues because of growing demand. From the 60 million passengers it served when the report was released, it was anticipated that the airport would handle approximately 75 million annual passengers in 2020 and 100 million by 2050.
