An unresolved water issue has prompted closures across the town of Browning as officials work to address a very low water supply. The Two Medicine Water Company reported problems with the system, leading local entities to reduce usage to ease strain.

As a result, the Blackfeet Tribe and the Blackfeet Tribal Business Council closed operations Monday, Jan. 5, 2026. Browning Public Schools also announced there would be no school for the day, citing the need to minimize water use until the issue is resolved.

Two Medicine Water Company put out the following message on Sunday via Facebook: "Browning residents at this time Two Medicine Water Company is requesting all to conserve water at this time until further notice."
