The President's Volunteer Service Award is bestowed by the President of the United States. Established by George W. Bush, the award honors people across America that have volunteered hundreds, if not thousands of volunteer hours over their lifetime, helping others in need. Depending on the amount of service hours completed, individuals can receive the Bronze, Silver, and/or Gold Award. The 2020 Gold Award recipient is Billboard-charting pop star and philanthropist, Laura Angelini.

The ceremony took place in the host city of La Quinta, CA, and was held at La Quinta Resort & Club (A Waldorf Astoria Resort). The certifying organization for Laura was the Saint Lazarus Relief Fund. Master of Ceremonies was Michael Conley, and the award was presented by Saint Lazarus VP/Ratu Muda Princess Cantrell. Laura's son, Andrew Shoup, flew in from Florida to lay on the gold medal and attach the official gold pin.

The Honorable Mayor Evans of La Quinta, proclaimed at the event, that October 17, 2020 is officially "Laura Angelini Day in La Quinta." City Councilman Steve Sanchez participated in the event. Special guests attending, also included: First Gentleman of La Quinta, Tim Bender; Bryan Gallo from NBC Palm Springs; Aura Imbarus, Author and Publisher for See Beyond Magazine; Kurt Leiber from Ocean Defenders Alliance; Kerri Murray of Shelter Box USA; Todd Roberts of Krupin Partners; Chip Miller, film, TV & music video director & producer (Laura's manager); Allen Plone, from Desert Star Film & TV; Shlomo Rechnitz, philanthropist; Travis Miller of Desert C.A.M. Studios; Michael Lesnick of Axiom Healthcare (Laura's husband), and international TV host & producer, Joey Zhou.
