In this video I show I fixed my mailbox that was loose and leaning. The original post was just a pc of Angle iron driven into the ground with no concrete.

I replace it by setting a 4x4 wood post in concrete. Using a simple buld planting auger on a drill I make my post hole and use it to also mix the concrete mix.
