What is the “Teacher Next Door Program” and would you recommend it?

The Teacher next door program is an initiative promoted by HUD to revitalize neighborhoods across America. They offer a 50% discount on listed properties in order to incentivize qualifying participants to purchase a home in select areas. The condition of the property may be less than desirable, and it also may be in areas that are not particularly safe. Therefore, due to the nature of the program soliciting homes in such neighborhoods, we have chosen not to recommend or endorse it. This is not to say that you should not consider all options since you may find a great deal in an area you don’t mind living in. We personally do not want to promote this program though.
