🌙 Learn Arabic Grammar Lesson 3 | Madina Book 1 🇸🇦📘

Welcome back to another step in your Arabic learning journey! 🚀
In this lesson, we dive deep into Arabic phonology, grammar, and syntax, setting the foundation for more complex sentence structures and introducing Arabic pronouns.

🅰️ I. Arabic Letters & Pronunciation Rules
🔡 A. The Arabic Alphabet Count

➡️ 29 letters total
➡️ 28 consonants + 1 silent letter (Alif)
➡️ The sound "A" is produced by Hamza (ء), which sometimes sits on a chair (Alif, Waw, or Ya).

☀️🌙 B. Sun Letters (Shamsiyyah) & Moon Letters (Qamariyyah)
🔤 Letter Type 🎧 Pronunciation Effect 🗣 Example
🌙 Moon Letters (Qamariyyah) The “L” in Al (ال) is pronounced Al-Qamaru, Al-Abu
☀️ Sun Letters (Shamsiyyah) The “L” in Al (ال) is assimilated; next letter has Shaddah (ّ) As-Samaku, not Al-Samak
⚡ C. Types of Hamza (ء)

1️⃣ Hamzatul Qaṭ‘ (ء القطع) – Always pronounced, wherever it appears.
2️⃣ Hamzatul Waṣl (ء الوصل) – Pronounced only at the start of speech; skipped when preceded by another word.
👉 The Hamza in Al (ال) is a Hamzatul Waṣl.

🏗️ II. Expanding Sentence Structure
⚙️ A. Particles of Jarr (حروف الجر) – “The Pulling Down Particles”

💡 When a preposition (like في – in, or على – on) precedes a noun, it pulls that noun into the Majrur (Genitive) case.
📉 The noun ends with a Kasra or Tanween Kasra:

بيتٌ → في البيتِ (in the house)

🧱 B. Phrases & Predicates (شبه جملة و خبر)

🧩 The combo Jaar + Majrur (Preposition + Noun) forms a Shibh Jumla (Phrase) – not a full sentence, but acts like one.
🗣 Example:

محمدٌ في المسجدِ → “Muhammad is in the Masjid.”
Here, في المسجدِ is the Khabar (predicate) of محمدٌ.

🗣️ III. Introduction to Pronouns (الضمائر) – Lesson 4 Preview

📘 Pronouns (Dama’ir) are a type of Noun (Ism) used to replace names and avoid repetition.
🔍 Categorized by:
👤 Person | 🚻 Gender | 🔢 Number

✴️ Detached Pronouns (الضمائر المنفصلة):

These pronouns stand alone and are always Marfoo‘ (Nominative) — often the Mubtada (subject) of a sentence.

👥 Person 🚹 Masculine 🚺 Feminine
3rd (Absent) هو – Huwa (He) / هما – Huma (They two) / هم – Hum (They) هي – Hiya (She) / هما – Huma (They two) / هن – Hunna (They)
🌊 Learning Analogy

This lesson is like learning to swim 🏊‍♂️— mastering how each element (letters, Hamza, prepositions) works before diving into deeper Arabic sentence structures.

🎯 By the end of this video, you’ll understand:
✅ How Hamzatul Wasl and Harfu Jarr shape Arabic reading and meaning.
✅ How to form sentences where the predicate is a full phrase, not just a single word.
✅ The foundation of Arabic pronouns for Lesson 4!
