STORYLINE:
Thousands of Lebanese and Palestinians took to the streets in Beirut on Sunday to express condemnation of Israel's military action in Gaza, as ground troops and tanks cut swaths through the Gaza Strip.
Protesters were waving Palestinian and Hamas flags and were chanting pro-Hamas and anti-Israel slogans.
Some were wearing white sheets representing the sheets in which dead bodies are wrapped, and brandishing fake missiles.
Hamas representative in Beirut Osama Hamdan said that Israel would not defeat Hamas and that all Palestinians was united with Hamas in their battle against Israel.
Other protests took place in Lebanon on Sunday.
One was held outside the US embassy compound in North Beirut and another one in the Palestinian camps of Ein El-Hilweh, South Lebanon, in the early hours of the morning.
A series of protests have been taking place in different provinces of Lebanon since the beginning of the Israeli attacks on Gaza on December 27.
