UPDATE:4:30pm-Classes at Huachuca Mountain and JCMS will resume tomorrow as normal. All power has been restored to all the buildings except the JCMS gym.
SCHOOL UPDATE: SIERRA VISTA SCHOOL DISTRICT SPECIAL UPDATE with Jeff Davenport speaking with Valerie Weller the Public Information Officer for the District.
Several Sierra Vista Unified School District (SVUSD) schools are experiencing electrical and connectivity issues today, impacting operations and communication.
· Joyce Clark Middle School (JCMS): Ongoing power issues have led to the cancellation of school for the remainder of the day. Buses are transporting students home. The district plans to resume normal operations at JCMS tomorrow.
· Huachuca Mountain Elementary: Intermittent power outages have required students to be temporarily relocated to the Sierra Vista United Methodist Church Activity Center across the street. Families wishing to pick up their students may do so at the Activity Center doors with proper identification. Once power is restored, students will be escorted back to Huachuca Mountain.
·Town & Country Elementary: The site is currently without internet and phone service. School is continuing as normal, and families needing to reach the school should go directly to the front office until service is restored.
Repair crews are actively addressing all issues, and the district is monitoring the situation closely to ensure student safety and continuity of learning. SVUSD staff and families will be updated as new information becomes available.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of our families, students, and staff during this unexpected situation,” said Valerie Weller, Public Information Officer. “Our top priority is keeping students safe while maintaining as much normalcy as possible.”
