Join us for a beautiful and challenging day hike in Quito, Ecuador. Rucu Pichincha is a 4696m (15,407ft) stratovolcano that dominates the skyline of Quito, begging to be climbed. Take the Teleferico cable car to the trailhead and enjoy a breathtaking hike with stunning views of Quito and the Avenue of Volcanoes.
If you're up for the challenge, the summit is a 10km (6.2mile) roundtrip hike with an elevation gain of 750m (2460ft).
Hiking to the summit of the Andes Peak of Rucu Pichincha is a must-do activity on any visit to Quito/Ecuador. It's amazing that such a wonderful slice of nature can be accessed from an urban center.
While you're hiking, say "Hola" to the Curiquingue, the sacred Incan bird that patrols this mountain.
