3 Most Dangerous Cities in the Netherlands

Описание к видео 3 Most Dangerous Cities in the Netherlands

Is the Netherlands a dangerous country? Not exactly so. Comparing the crime rate in this country with the European average and other individual countries in Europe and the United States, the Netherlands can hardly be described as dangerous. On the other hand, it cannot be described as a crime-free paradisiac country. So the idea of the Netherlands being dangerous depends on individuals. You can’t be affirmative on either side because it’s quite complicated. Absolute figures say only a little about how safe a location is. However, you can get a clearer picture by analysing relative figures. Doing so, we discover that Amsterdam, Eindhoven, and Rotterdam are the 3 most dangerous cities in the Netherlands. This video shows you the proof.
3. Rotterdam
Let’s start by telling you a bit about Rotterdam. Of course, that’s what we’ll do to the two other cities. Rotterdam is in the province of South Holland. It’s a portion of the North Sea mouth of the delta of Rhine–Meuse–Scheldt, via the "New Meuse" inland shipping channel, which was dug to connect to the Meuse initially and now to the Rhine. As the second-largest city in the Netherlands, the current estimated population of Rotterdam is 664,311. It’s second only to Amsterdam. Covering an area of 324.14 square kilometres, it has a population density of 2,995 Rotterdammers, as the residents of the city are called, per square kilometre.
This is the third most dangerous city in the Netherlands as the available facts and figures show. We love to remind you that Rotterdam is home to the biggest port in Europe which is also the second largest in the whole world, after Shanghai in China. The city is rightly situated on the banks of Nieuwe Maas with a rich historical background of trade, travel, and immigration. Based on its geographical location, popularity, and size, certain crimes are understandably common in such a country.
With a long history of constant influx of people dating back to the 13th century, you cannot expect the city to be completely free of shady or unsavoury characters in the past. If that’s the case, the past will continue to haunt the city to date. No wonder Rotterdam is a bustling hub, a high-trafficked area with a prevalence of drug abuse and other drug-related crimes. So it’s one of the cities in the Netherlands where the news about crimes and drugs is more often heard. That’s why we can wholeheartedly agree to place it on this list.
As we begin to give you figures that we scooped here and there, it’s good that you bring it back to mind that Rotterdam is counted among the most dangerous in relation to other cities in the country only. Given the low rates of crime, it’s nowhere to be found if placed beside many cities in other countries, including Britain and America. Therefore, if this city with its low crime rates we’re about to give you is one of the most dangerous cities in the Netherlands, the country is definitely safe.
Now to the figures: Rotterdam’s crime rate is currently 38.45. While this is low, it has been increasing in the last three years. Worries about home break-ins and theft in the city are high at 32.701. The city’s gun death rate is 0.58 per 100,000 residents annually. Factoring the city’s population, on average, a person is being shot down every 63 days, 12 hours, 45 minutes, and 17 seconds.
