Cryo crates are loot chests that spawn at a random location inside the current safe zone and contains two of the same health items and one special weapon. The special weapons include the sniper rifle, bazooka, minigun and grenades. Locating the cryo crate is achieved by following the yellow arrow on your compass at the top middle of your screen.

Cryo crates are opened by standing still in front of the crate. Your character will begin picking away the ice that surrounds the chest for ten strikes dealing a total of 100 damage. If the opening is interrupted and you step away from the crate your damage done to open the crate will heal over time and can be observed by the surrounding ice reforming around the crate.

Collect surrounding loot first. Nearby items are safer and quicker to loot than cryo crates and by leaving the surrounding item spawners empty you limit the supplies of potentially lurking players.

Maximize your vision. Equip a weapon that has a long range of vision to scout incoming enemies. The grenades, assault rifle and revolver offer the longest sight.

Defend yourself with crates. Enemies late to arrive to the cryo crate will use available snipers and other long range weapons to poke your position before closing in to finish you off. Use crates to build walls to protect yourself from surprises. The crates will also help prevent your loot from falling off the edges of platforms.

Bait the cryo crate. Many cryo crate spawn locations have near-by bushes and other hidden areas that you may use to remain undetected and wait for your prey to approach the crate. Attack early - Don't wait until the crate opens and your enemy has the chance to loot and run.

Weigh the risk. Looting cryo crates can be dangerous and you risk your chances of survival on Doom Island. Looting every crate makes your next move predictable to opponents. Ask yourself if the loot is worth risking your match placement before inviting trouble to dance.
