The original piece was recorded in 2013 with the band CrossOver. This is a spinoff of the original, featuring vocals by Shiladitya Chakraborty, guitars and bass by Soumya Das Gupta, Keyboards by Ahon Das Gupta and dance by Pratiti Ghosh.

The video depicts friends who get together in the evening after a days' work and start conversing with each other and essentially, their crafts become voices of communication. We have tried to create a seamless production incorporating traditional Indian classical / sufi kalam, blues rock, light jazz elements with Odissi dance in this experiment.

A brief introduction of the participants:

Shiladitya trained as an engineer but is following his passion of music. He has training in the sufi tradition and also Indian classical music and is equally adept at singing modern Bengali and Hindi songs. He is becoming more and more popular by the day and has become a highly recognizable face in the country.

Soumya is an Architect by profession who has practiced for 40 plus years in India and the middle east. He hails from a respected musical family and was doing studio sessions before he joined Architecture. He has managed to balance both music and architecture so far. He is particularly interested in blues/ jazz/ rock.

Pratiti is a trained Odissi dancer and has been performing for more than 30 years. She has trained with greats which is very evident in the way she performs. She has masters degrees in 3 different subjects, having completed one of which from the Cambridge University and is presently pursuing her Ph,D from the university of Exeter in the UK.

Ahon is a trained classical pianist with inclination towards jazz. He is presently in his final year of undergraduate studies on films at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Georgia, USA.

This presentation combines contributions from people living in 3 continents at present, Asia, Europe and north America. It is based very loosely on the raag Yaman (Iman or Imon to some) the notes of which are exactly the same as the Lydian mode. Yaman is an evening raaga and thus is appropriate for the timing of the story of this conversation.
