BARANGAY PINEDA | Pasig City | Walking Tour Philippines

Описание к видео BARANGAY PINEDA | Pasig City | Walking Tour Philippines

Walk with me along Banaag Street in Barangay Pineda, Pasig City, Philippines. One of the 30 barangays in Pasig, Brgy. Pineda is situated in the western part of the city, bounded by Barangay Kapitolyo in the North and Barangay Bagong Ilog in the east.

The name Pineda is believed to be derived from a Spanish official who served for the barrio during the Spanish regime. It used to be a settlement for families from Malapad-na-Bato, a barrio across the Pasig River. It is said that a lot of Andres Bonifacio’s followers are from Pineda. Doña Geronima's cave and the Buwayang Bato from Jose Rizal’s novel, "El Filibusterismo", are also found there. During the American regime, inhabitants of Pineda washed the clothes and uniforms of American soldiers stationed at Fort McKinley (now BGC) in the Pasig River.
