‘Misbah is the right person to coach Pakistan team’ Wasim Khan

The Cheif Executive of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Wasim Khan believes that former Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq was the best possible choice to coach the national team.

“It was a tough decision for us as the head coach’s position is very crucial in Pakistan’s cricket. We have considered every possible option but we find Misbah capable of leading the charge from the front,” Khan said while talking in a joint presser in Lahore.

The PCB on Wednesday officially announced that Misbah will be the new head coach and chief selector of Pakistan cricket team.

Khan admired the leadership qualities of Misbah and thinks that his calmness, cleverness and honesty will surely inspire the youngsters to come. “We have witnessed his achievements as a player as well as a captain. He was phenomenal as a leader on the field,” he said.

The CEO aausred that Misbah will get complete autonomy and they hope that the new system will work significantly for Pakistan. “I would like to clarify here that a lot of people say that PCB gives more value to a foreign coach so let me make sure one thing that for us every single individual working with Pakistan team is important. We are looking forward to working as a team and I hope things will run fluently,” he said.

To a query about Misbah’s salary to serve as the most influential person in the team, Khan said that the salary would be kept confidential but confirmed that it is equal to that of Mickey Arthur.

“I can’t share the exact figures but I assure you that we have tried to give every possible facility to Misbah,” he added.

Khan, on the other hand, revealed that the previous selection committee has been dissolved and the PCB has made slight changes in the system here as well. “Misbah will be in consult with the coaches of all six regions. It will help him know about the progress of players in domestic cricket,” he maintained.

Misbah has resumed the charge of Pakistan cricket team with a contract of next three years. His first international assignment will be against Sri Lanka who will be traveling to Pakistan to play white-ball cricket later this month.
