Nathu La is a mountain pass in the Dongkya Range of the Himalayas between China's Yadong County in Tibet, and the Indian states of Sikkim and West Bengal in Bengal, South Asia. The pass, at 4,310 m, connects the towns of Kalimpong and Gangtok to the villages and cities of the lower Chumbi Valley.

Just 55 km away from Gangtok, New Baba Mandir is a newly constructed shrine of Baba Harbhajan Singh, a great Indian soldier, completed in the year of 11th November 1982. Situated at the junction of Kupup Nathang road and the trail leading to Menmecho Lake.

Tsomgo Lake, also known as Tsongmo Lake or Changgu Lake, is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim, some 40 kilometers (25 mi) from the capital Gangtok. Located at an elevation of 3,753 m (12,313 ft), the lake remains frozen during winter. The lake's surface reflects different colors with changes in seasons and is revered by the local Sikkimese people. Buddhist monks prognosticated after studying the changing colors of the lake.
