Video Transcript:

The University of Washington certificate program in applied animal behavior was really developed because there was this gap between what we teach students in modern animal behavior science about wild animals and what people know about companion animals or captive animals, and we found there was a big gap in the academic training, but yet there's a huge desire to understand our pets and to improve psychological well-being of captive animals whether that's in a laboratory or in a zoo or aquarium setting.

Most of our students are adult learners. They're professionals. They're in shelters. They're in doggy day cares. Some of them are veterinarians. Some of them are PhDs, and they want to go back and get a little bit more education about the modern science of animal behavior, evolution, genetics, temperament the latest research and know how to apply that to the work they're doing today to help their organization.
