This is our money and kids series and we are discussing a lot of topics that will teach you and your parents to be money smart. Ready to get started? Let’s talk about SAVING MONEY!

I don’t know much about saving money, but I know a lot about losing them.

I often want to buy something at the store and don’t have enough money to actually buy it.

Maybe I need to get a job? Maybe I can retire?

Often, things you want cost more money than you have. What do you do? You can either save up by not spending on other things, or you can try to earn some extra money.

With a little work and creativity and an okay from your parents, you can start adding to your piggy bank. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Sell unwanted items. - games and toys in working condition.
Ask your parents if there is anything you can help them sell.
Check if you can have a garage sale?
But never sell anything that isn’t yours without permission!

Ask your parent how you can earn money. You will need to also explain why you want to do it and what will you do with your money.
