Ok everyone, we have a warrior puppy on our hands. He’s going to need all of us.
His name is “A Minor” and he came in with his brother “Mustard.” They were brought in and immediately red flags were raised – Mustard has a hematoma from a nasty ear infection, and A Minor came in with a small bump on his head and a depressed area of his skull. He was otherwise acting like a normal puppy. We sedated him and took skull x-rays but did not see any obvious fractures, so we knew it was going to require some advanced imaging.
The next day we noticed he was acting very lethargic and strange. Within minutes he began having a grand mal seizure. We didn’t waste a moment, we loaded him up in our medical transport vehicle and rushed him to the Animal Neurology Center.

The doctor at the Animal Neurology Center suggested a CT scan to look for fractures in his skull, but then soon after realized his injuries were much more severe and would require a more detailed and specific MRI. The MRI (attached here) revealed he had a skull fracture from what appears to be a dog bite that must have happened at least several weeks ago, and caused a nasty infection in his brain. The doctor needed to rush him into emergency surgery if he had any chance of survival, but said we CAN get ahead of it if we act quick.

A-Minor went into emergency surgery to remove fractured pieces of his skull and express the infected abscesses in his brain. Once removed, he would need to be on aggressive antibiotics to address the brain infection.
