Threads Of Banaras

"Threads of Banaras" is a short film by Keya Vaswani and Nidhi Kamath.

This beautifully done short film was their submission for Ether's Short Film Making Competition, but unfortunately it had to be disqualified from the competition for noncompliance with our terms & conditions. Nevertheless, given the subject of the film and upon the contributors' request we have decided to publicize their film through our Facebook pages and YouTube channel.

The following is Keya and Nidhi's description of the film:

"Threads of Banaras" is a short film which unveils various issues faced by the traditional silk craft sector of Banaras, India. The world famous Banarasi silk which flourished in India since 18th century is now under the threat due to various issues like changing trends in fashion, government policies, laws against child labour. The 10 min short film portrays views of people from the craft sector such as artisans, traders and researchers.
