Best Things to do at Loch Tay, Scotland | 4K Travel Vlog

Описание к видео Best Things to do at Loch Tay, Scotland | 4K Travel Vlog

Kenmore is a beautiful village nestled on one side of Loch Tay, where the River Tay feeds into the Loch. The nearest main town is Aberfeldy and on the other side of Loch Tay is an equally stunning village called Killin.

There are countless things to do on the Kenmore side of Loch Tay including partaking on various hikes. In this video I will talk you through some of my favourite.

-- Best 5 Things to do on Loch Tay --

1. The Drummond Hill, walk to Black Rock Viewpoint. This uphill walk takes you through peaceful forests. At the Black Rock Viewpoint the forest falls away, leaving you with breathtaking views of Loch Tay and Kenmore itself.

2. Walk alongside the River Tay all the way to the abandoned Chinese Bridge. There are 2 ways to walk this trail. You can either walk on the main, wide path which takes you past fields of horses and a majestic folly. Or you can follow the path closest to the river which takes you through overgrown rhododendron bushes. This was my favourite! You can end the walk and turn back at any point but I love visiting the abandoned cast-iron bridge called the Chinese Bridge.

3. The Birks of Aberfeldy circular walk. As the name suggests, this is in Aberfeldy. This walk through a beautiful gorge where a huge waterfall called the Falls of Moness cascades down was named after Scottish poet, Robert Burns' poem called the 'Birks of Aberfeldy'.

4. A trip to Killin village. In a post-COVID world you can stop off at some of the restaurants and cafes here or even hire a kayak from the outdoor centre and take it along the river to Loch Tay. You can also visit the Falls of Dochart and have a paddle in the cold waters.

5. Visit Taymouth Castle, an abandoned castle set in a well-maintained golf course. The castle has been empty since 1982 but was bought in 2005 with plans to turn it into a luxury hotel. Money issues bought the development to a halt and it's been in a state of limbo ever since.
