The first chapter of Blizzard's Story
As a two week old pup Blizzard was found by lost hikers in a den buried under the heavy snowfall of a recent snow storm. He was taken to wildlife sanctuary where he was lovingly raised by the staff until the age of two. After much debate it was decided that he be returned to the wild and was released on Amethyst Mountain where he had been born.
There Blizzard lived off of hares for several weeks as he did not have enough experience hunting larger pray and wondered aimlessly until he came across a grove of Aspen trees in the large clearing around the Lamar over look. Here he settled down and called home for the next few months
One day Blizzard stumbled on a pack of dispersal wolves in the process of hunting an herd of elk. This seemed to almost flip a switch in Blizzard as soon after he became more determined and after much practice he was finally able to take down his first mule deer fawn. In time he worked his way up to larger and larger pray until he became a confident hunter of elk.
All the while Blizzards adopted family kept a distant watch over him to make sure he would be able to make it on his own. Once they saw that he had taken out his first cow elk they left Amethyst Mountain assured that he would be alright. Later in early winter they return and where very surprised and overjoyed to see that Blizzard had already formed a bond with another lone wolf they chose to call Cinnamon.
Seeing Cinnamon with Blizzard and watching her show him how to survive in the wild gave the wildlife keepers much hope for his future.
