Senator Jacqui Lambie was overcome with emotion while speaking about the mental health impact of social media on young children.

The Senator likened the impacts of teenage social media use to sticking "an ice pipe in their mouth".

“It is having the same damage done to them. I want you to know that because it is no different," she told Sky News Australia.

Ms Lambie also backed South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas’ move to restrict children under the age of 14 from making an account on popular platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat.
