Why Did Pokemon Contests Fail?

Pokemon contests have disappeared, but ribbons have not. Pokemon contests were introduced in Gen 3 with Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, and then continued to Gen 4 in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. The BDSP and ORAS remakes also showed contests in a different way, but despite everything, fans never seemed to click with them. Let's explore why!
