Explosions in the Sky performs at Emo's in Austin, Texas, Feb. 28, 2002. Seventeen years ago tonight they were opening for …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead. This was the first opportunity I had to see them play, and I drove 400 miles round-trip from Dallas to Austin and back on a Thursday night. I've since been to more of their shows (2002-2016) than any other band or musician, and every single gig has been pretty epic. They're hands-down my favorite band to see live.
