Visual Impairment Strategies: Moving From Object Activities to Contracted Braille

Описание к видео Visual Impairment Strategies: Moving From Object Activities to Contracted Braille

Holly, a teacher of the visually impaired in Austin ISD, explains how she's helped her student Zelda, a child who is blind and has behavioral challenges, successfully read braille.

She explains the process of starting out by building trust and using object activities to engage Zelda, and then honing in on what Zelda enjoyed the most. She explains how she used auditorial strategies based on youtube videos and other musical cues to engage Zelda in her learning.

In second grade, Zelda used tactile symbols to teach Zelda how to read Braille and find creative ways they can use the same materials her classmates might have access to.
