The Fingerprint unlock feature on the Honor 400 enhances your device security while providing quick and convenient access to your phone. Once enabled, you can use your fingerprint to unlock the screen, authorize app access, and verify payments.

Follow the step-by-step instructions below to set up and enable fingerprint recognition on your Honor 400.

⮕ Step 1: Open the Settings App

⮕ From the Home screen, tap the Settings icon to open the device’s configuration menu.

⮕ Step 2: Go to Biometrics and Passwords

⮕ Scroll down and select Biometrics & password or Security & privacy, depending on your MagicOS version.
⮕ Tap Fingerprint ID to access fingerprint settings.

⮕ Step 3: Set a Screen Lock (If Not Set Already)

⮕ If you have not yet set a screen lock method, the system will prompt you to create one.
⮕ Choose your preferred method: PIN, Pattern, or Password.
⮕ This serves as a backup security option in case fingerprint recognition fails.

⮕ Step 4: Register a Fingerprint

⮕ Tap Add fingerprint.
⮕ Place your finger on the fingerprint sensor (located either under the display, on the power button, or the back of the phone—depending on your model).
⮕ Follow the on-screen instructions:

Lift and place your finger repeatedly until the system captures your fingerprint fully.

Adjust the angle slightly each time to ensure all parts of your fingerprint are recorded.

⮕ Step 5: Complete Registration

⮕ Once your fingerprint is fully scanned, tap Done or OK.
⮕ You can add multiple fingerprints if desired by selecting Add another fingerprint.

⮕ Step 6: Enable Fingerprint Unlock

⮕ After registering, make sure the toggle for Unlock device with fingerprint is turned ON.
⮕ You may also enable options such as:

Access Safe or App Lock using fingerprint.

Authorize payments or app verification with fingerprint confirmation.

⮕ Step 7: Test the Fingerprint Function

⮕ Lock your phone, then lightly touch the fingerprint sensor.
⮕ The device should unlock instantly upon successful recognition.

⮕ Step 8: Manage Fingerprints (Optional)

⮕ To remove or rename fingerprints, go to Settings → Biometrics & password → Fingerprint ID.
⮕ Select a registered fingerprint to delete or rename for easier management.

Keep your finger and the sensor clean for consistent accuracy.

Avoid using wet fingers as moisture may affect recognition.

For best results, register multiple fingerprints, especially from the fingers you use most often.
