The long shadows of the late afternoon sun created a perfect reference for my Day 10 painting, which reflects the tranquility of the scene.

As I paint, I invite you into a personal conversation about art journaling. I reflect on how my approach to journaling at age 69 contrasts with how I might have kept a journal (if I had) as a 15-year-old. Back then, my creative outlet was songwriting, and I ponder the ways those old lyrics would spark personal memories today. Now, my art journal is a peaceful and deeply meaningful creative outlet.

While working on today’s gouache painting, I talk about my painting choices, my thoughts on journaling through life, and a few other topics (some connected and some delightfully rambling, as you’d expect from a visit with Poppa).
