Welcome to this Let's Play of Hard West, the turn based combat game that smacks of XCOM in the wild west, with a supernatural twist. Released on Steam on Nov 18th, 2015, developers Gambitious and Creative Forge Games bring us a real treat of a game.

When a tragic turn of events sets one man down a path of supernatural chaos and revenge, he must brutally hunt down all those whom wronged him. Follow Warren on his descent into the darkest recesses of the human soul, and try to survive in a world full of hard choices and even harder consequences. Because in this world, death is a constant presence and the black pacts which you make with forces beyond human comprehension will forever haunt all those around you.

Hard West was Kickstarted as "A weird west tactical with world map exploration, a hint of adventure and a drop of RPG", with 4,398 backers pledging $94,183 to make the game a reality. Hard West currently holds a rating of 83% on Steam, showing a fairly positive reception.

Metacritic reviews reflect this as well, with a metascore rating of 70 and a user review of 7.9. Kotaku's Nathan Grayson had this to say about Hard West:
"It’s not just XCOM with cowboys. In some ways, it’s simpler (for example, there’s no overwatch mechanic, which kinda sucks), but it adds thematically fitting features—for instance, the ability to see enemies’ shadows based on the time of day and shoot them even when you can’t completely see them. Luck is also a stat that goes up and down depending on how aggressively you play, creating a cool risk-reward tug of war. Oh, and if someone’s taking cover behind one of the wild west’s famed permeable surfaces—for instance a tent or a stagecoach cover—you can just fire away and laugh at them for being an idiot. "
"Hard West’s plot and overworld sections aren’t entirely linear but, again, they’re pretty straightforward. However, the story and levels still go in unexpected directions "
