How to remove and replace a cigarette lighter in a 1966 Ford Mustang

This video goes through the procedure on how to remove and replace a faulty cigarette lighter in a 1966 Mustang. This procedure may apply to most Mustangs from 1964 -- 1973.

This lighter in this Mustang did not work. Neither did the Emergency flasher. After checking the manual it was discovered that the lighter and the flasher share a common fuse. This fuse was blown and new fuses that were inserted got blown as well. A big assumption was made that the lighter and not the flasher switch was responsible for this. The lighter was then replaced.

Notes:

The Lighter may not ground just by installing it to the body. The paint in the dash may prevent it from grounding. It may be prudent to connect a ground wire as well.
