The Political Masquerade

Описание к видео The Political Masquerade

I actually wrote this last year but did not want to release it at the same time as my other Remembrance Day songs ("The Soldier" and "A Mother's Lament") because it is political in nature. I am not meaning to take away from the sacrifice of the people who died, but to explore the overarching theme of why war happens in the first place.

No politician is on your side. I find it funny that it is common knowledge that "politicians lie" and yet we still enter every election believing the person we vote for will hold true to their promises. The Western World parades around as a democracy when in reality, it is governed by plutocracy -- by rich people who will absolutely sacrifice millions of innocent lives in war for economic, commodity, or geographical gain. And they certainly will give you band-aid solutions to problems like racism and economic inequality in order to preserve the unequal system that suits them well. As long as the wealthy govern, there is no peace, even in a time when no active war is being fought (sadly, not today). I'd even argue that peace cannot be established until we stop believing in the concept of "money" and "ownership". Humans are better than this, and we are ready for something bigger, as a whole.

Dedicated to Palestine, Lebanon, and Ukraine.
