Last night, I built something close to my heart — a complete restaurant ordering system inspired by my friend’s restaurant Bombay Cafe Sukma ( Sukma, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia 🇲🇾).

When I visited and saw how restaurants still rely on manual ordering and paper menus, I thought — why not make the process faster, smarter, and fully digital? That’s how SCANDINE was born

What is SCANDINE?

SCANDINE is a QR-based restaurant ordering system where:
Customers scan a QR code placed on the table
Instantly see the full digital menu on their phone
Select items, confirm the order, and send directly to the kitchen
Restaurant staff & admin get real-time notifications

No more paper menus, no more shouting orders, no more confusion between waiters and kitchen. Just scan → order → dine.

Tech Stack Used

Backend: Python (FastAPI)

Database: SQLite (lightweight & simple)

Frontend: ReactJS for both Admin Dashboard + Customer Order View

Notification System: Real-time updates so staff can track new orders instantly

This is just Version 1 of SCANDINE. Later, I will add:
Payment gateway integration (UPI, card, wallets)


Inspiration

My friend runs Bombay Cafe Sukma in Kuching, Malaysia 🇲🇾, and seeing how much time and effort is spent on manual order-taking gave me this idea. Restaurants like his deserve tech-driven solutions that make customer experience smoother.

This version is still basic, but it works — and it’s a proof of concept that one night of coding can actually create something useful for the real world.
