For those of you who are a bit confused about where a film like this could have come from, I would suggest looking back over my collection of films.

Yes, although my most acknowledged projects to date have been a parody series based on a rather dull 2D MMO and a YouTube series reviewing free-to-play online games - the main theme behind all of them has been, "Am I wasting my precious time?" For the truth, one would only look to the lines of the character Kaolyne when she asks, "Then why do you waste time playing these online games?..."

Also those of whom have seen my "Slowloft" films will agree that I do not shy away from controversial topics. But, why videogames...?

This film represents the conclusion to a series of questions I have posed to myself over the last two decades. Luke a smoker with doubts lingering in the back of their minds as they light up - I had always wondered if my gaming lifestyle had been the best way to spend my limited time on the planet.

The answer came to me at the crossroads of three major events in my life. First I had let my health decline over the years and the signs of that poor lifestyle were showing. Second, I had allowed my relationships to fall apart revealing how lonely and isolated I was. Finally, as an art teacher, I was seeing first-hand how videogames, texting, and entertainment addictions were negatively affecting the young children that I taught.

I made this film in part to keep those same children, from making the same mistakes I did...

To clarify however, while I speak from experience... I'll never claim to speak from wisdom.

As I post this film online, I am unsure of the reactions it will provoke. Certainly, there will be those upset - those who will call names - and those who will write off what I say as being my weakness.

Regardless, for those with an open mind, I welcome criticism. The truth is, we are the first generation whom has had to figure out how technology like cell phones, video games, Facebook and the internet will fit into our lives. Will everyone be successful in balancing these new influences? Or have we lost something important along the way?

The question ultimately is, what can be done...
