BNSF's Pasadena Local, Westward Chase along the Pasadena Subdivision 6/11/2024

Today on the Pasadena Subdivision, I caught the westward run of the BNSF Pasadena Roadswitcher, running to Irwindale with a large cut of cars for both Pomona and Irwindale. Today's run featured 10 cars for the Pabst Brewery (1 hopper and 9 tanks), as well as 10 boxcars for WSI. I started off in Pomona and would take the train as far as Azusa today.

Starting off on the jointed rail in Pomona, I caught the train with all 20 cars as it lumbered westward. I then caught the train a second time in Pomona where it had divested the boxcars on the siding, and continued westward with the 10 remaining cars for the brewery.

Unfortunately, prior to the second Pomona clip, there was a broken rail, which tied up the train for about 45 minutes. The cause is unknown to me and a rather odd occurrence given the rails aren't even 5 years old. Nonetheless, it was inspected, and deemed safe to pass over at a restricted speed of 5mph, where it would be patched up and fixed for the evening's eastbound return.

Following Pomona, my next shot of the train was in La Verne, passing some buildings of the University of La Verne. My fourth shot was at the pedestrian crossing in San Dimas. Shots 5 through 7 were in Glendora, showcasing two of the newly constructed bridges for the Foothill Gold Line extension, as well as the 1929 Santa Fe Railroad Bridge over Route 66. My final shot was in Azusa by the Azusa Santa Fe Rail Depot. Thanks for watching!
