The Harborside Event Center in downtown Fort Myers has booked a popular band for a concert in October.

It sounds great, except that fans of the band have been labeled by the FBI as a gang.

City council will talk about whether or not the Insane Clown Posse should play in the city.

Outside of city hall, there are mixed feelings about the show.

There's debate on whether or not fans are actually part of a gang - and while the city wants to attract more people downtown, they want to make sure they're not attracting crime as well.

The Insane Clown Posse is a rap-metal group out of Detroit with a loyal following of fans.

In just a couple of months, they're booked to play at Harborside Event Center.

The fans of the Insane Clown Posse are known as juggalos and in 2011, the FBI labeled juggalos as a loosely organized hybrid gang.

Come October 8, 3,000 of them are expected to be admitted to the event center.

Jeremy Cummins works downtown, and said he has heard of the band and is wary of the crowd that comes with it.

"There are so many more artists that you could bring downtown that are going to bring larger crowds that aren't going to cause problems," he said.

The FBI accused the juggalos of committing crimes ranging from vandalism to assault.

"We don't need anymore violence, we have plenty of it homegrown," said City Council Member Thomas Leondardo.

Concert promoter Regan St. Peter denies any gang affiliation, and said though the band had some problems in the past, their fans have grown older and have matured.

"There's not anymore problems with their concerts than any other concert," said St. Peter. "The insane clown posse has been around for a very long time. You're going to see probably the average in this crowd is about 35."

And those are people who would be bringing money to businesses downtown.

Gary Ingole, owner of Downtown Bagel said: "Let's just do a little research, figure out what we need. Hopefully they come downtown, spend a lot of money, everybody wins."

Fort Myers police said they are aware of the concert but declined to comment.

The contract with Harborside hasn't been signed yet, and because it's a city owned facility, the city council could decide to cancel it.
