Located in Graniteville, Vermont, the Rock of Ages Museum & Quarry was abandoned at the turn of the century and exploring the former site proves to be a haunting experience!

Scottish born George B Milne immigrated to Barre in 1883 and opened his first granite quarry shortly thereafter. In 1914, Milne rebranded his quarry as the "Rock of Ages," and said marketing campaign was so successful that he was able to expand his business, ultimately buying out nearly a dozen competing quarries in the surrounding area.

Rock of Ages is home to the largest deep hole quarry in the world, exceeding a depth of six-hundred feet. It is estimated that the quarries in Barre and Graniteville have enough granite to supply worldwide demand for the next four thousand years.
