Love and Infatuation: A Response to a Student's Questions

Описание к видео Love and Infatuation: A Response to a Student's Questions

In this video -- prompted as a response to a set of questions one of my Introduction to Philosophy students added to his final exam paper -- I discuss the nature of love and infatuation, the distinction people typically make between them, and a number of other related issues.

Here's my student's actual questions: "I've recently been in contact with a girl I used to be infatuated with when I was 18. I no longer feel infatuated with girls, however, because I haven't been in contact I feel as though those infatuation feeling have come back. Infatuation is scary because you see the other person through rose-colored glasses, even though that person isn't perfect. My question is: what is the best way to deal with infatuation, because it is love, and always seems not not work out. And also, can infatuation ever turn into love?"

The theme of our Intro to Philosophy class this semester was "Love, Friendship, and Desire"
