1.Rahjanni Iusi talks about Reality of Veteran Suicide, Depression & PTSD

In this episode, Claudia Urdinola meets Rahjanni Iusi, a military veteran who served two tours of duty in the Iraqi war. Rahjanni is one of the veterans who first hand saw PTSD and depression in her comrades after serving in the military for the second time. Her journey sprouted out of nowhere, driven solely by a dream. No family member is in the military, nor were there any other factors. That one night dream changed her mindset, and she wanted to serve her country. One thing is for sure: as much as she loved the training and the impact of her first time in war, going back for a second tour significantly altered her life. PTSD and depression are no joke for the military.

Rahjanni S. Iusi, MSW, RCSWI, served two tours of duty in the Iraqi war and witnessed the horrors that haunt her and other veterans even today. A graduate from Broward College, she focuses on tackling the pervasive mental health issues within the veteran community. Using her experience, she raises awareness about the horrors of war and emphasizes that the war doesn’t necessarily end when a veteran is discharged from military service. Rahjanni has been a speaker at multiple events related to mental health awareness, spreading the knowledge that twenty-three veterans commit suicide every day of the year.
