ಶ್ರೀ ತಾಟಾಂಬರಿ ಬಾಬಾಜಿ, ತಾಟ್ ಬಾಬಾಜಿ.. ಅವಧೂತ ಬಾಬಾಜಿ.... ಅನೇಕ ಹೆಸರುಗಳು ಅವರಿಗೆ.

ನಾನು ಕಂಡಂತೆ , ಅವರು ಒಬ್ಬ ಹಿಮಾಲಯದ ಯೋಗಿ. ಬದರಿನಾಥ್ ಮತ್ತು ಹರಿದ್ವಾರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಆಶ್ರಮ. ಒಬ್ಬ ಅವಧೂತ. ಸಾವಿರ ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಊಟ, ವಸ್ತ್ರ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರನ್ನು ನೋಡಲು ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಅನೇಕ ಭಾಗಗಳಿಂದ ಜನರು ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ಮೂಲ ಹೆಸರು, ಊರು, ವಯಸ್ಸು ಯಾವ ವಿವರವನ್ನೂ ಅವರು ಎಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಂತೆ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರನ್ನು ಕರೆಯುವುದು ಬಾಬಾಜಿ ಎಂದಷ್ಟೆ. ಅವರು ಕೇವಲ ಒಂದು ಗೋಣಿತಾಟನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಸೊಂಟಕ್ಕೆ ಸುತ್ತುಕೊಂಡಿರುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ತಾಟ್ ಬಾಬಾಜಿ. ತಾಟಾಂಬರಿ ಬಾಬಾಜಿ. ಅವರ ಹೆಸರು ನೀಡದ ಆಶ್ರಮ ಹರಿದ್ವಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಬದರಿಧಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ. ಹರಿದ್ವಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಜನ. ಬದರಿನಾಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರದು ಎತ್ತರವಾದ, ಬೃಹತ್ತಾದ ಮತ್ತು ಗಂಭೀರವಾದ ನಿಲುವು. ಹಿಮಾಲಯದಷ್ಟೆ ದೃಢತೆ. ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಕಮಲದಂತೆ. ಸದಾಕಾಲ ದಯಾಪೂರ್ಣ. ಮಾತು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ವಾತ್ಸಲ್ಯಪೂರಿತ ಮತ್ತು ಮೃದು. ಕಂಠ ಕಂಚಿನಂತೆ. ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಂಡರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆಯೇ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬಂತಹ ಭಾವನೆ. ’ ಬಾ ಒಂದು ತುತ್ತು ಮೊಸರನ್ನ ತಿಂದು ಹೋಗುವಿಯಂತೆ’ ಎಂಬಂತೆ. ಅವರು ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಿದ್ದುದೇ ಒಂದು ಚಪಾತಿ. ಅದನ್ನೂ ಕೂಡ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಇದ್ದರೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ತುತ್ತು ತಿನ್ನಿಸಿ ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ವಯಸ್ಸೆಷ್ಟು...ಯಾರು ಹೇಳಬಲ್ಲರು. ಅವರ ಕಾಲುಗಳು ನನಗೆ ರೋಸ್ ವುಡ್ ಮರ ಕಂಡಂತೆ ಕಂಡಿದ್ದವು. ಅವರ ಕುರಿತು ಬರೆಯುವುದು ಸೂರ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಹಣತೆ ಇಟ್ಟಂತೆ ಎಂದು ಯಾರೋ ಹೇಳುವ ಮಾತು. ಆದರೆ ನನಗೆ ಖಂಡಿತ ಶಕ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಬಾಬಾಜಿ ನನ್ನ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ದಿವ್ಯ ತೇಜಸ್ಸು, ಶುದ್ಧ ಭಾವನೆ, ತಿಳಿಯಾದ ಗಂಗಾನದಿ, ಹಿಮಾಲಯದಷ್ಟು ಪವಿತ್ರ... ಉನ್ನತವಾದ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞಾವಸ್ಥೆ.. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೈ ಮುಗಿದರೆ ಸಾಕು..ಕೋಟಿ ಕೋಟಿ ಅಹಂಕಾರಗಳು ಮಣ್ಣಾಗಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತವೆ. ಅದಂತೂ ಸತ್ಯ.

ಅಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮ ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರಗಳು ನಿಗೂಢ ಆದರೆ ಸತ್ಯದ ಮತ್ತು ಧರ್ಮದ ಮಾರ್ಗ. ಈ ರೀತಿ ಪವಿತ್ರವಾದ , ಪುಣ್ಯರೂಪವಾದ ಬಾಬಾಜಿ ಅವರಿಂದ ನೀಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯೇ ಈ ಒಂದು ಉಪದೇಶಗಳ ಮಾಲೆ. ಅಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮವಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಗ ಬಯಸುವ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ, ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಲವು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯರಿಗೂ ಕೂಡ ಇದು ಸಹಕಾರಿ ಆಗಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ನನ್ನ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆ. ಅವರ ಮಾತುಗಳು ಅನೇಕ ಸಲ ಸೂತ್ರಗಳಂತೆ. ನಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ನಾವೇ ಬಿಡಿಸುತ್ತ ಹೋಗಬೇಕು. ಹಾಗೆ ಬಿಡಿಸಿದಾಗಲೇ ಒಳಗಿನ ಗಂಟುಗಳು ಬಿಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ವಿಶೇಷ ತಂತ್ರ. ಅವರು ನೀಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು ದಾಖಲಿಸಿ.. ಈಗ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಇಡುತ್ತಿರುವೆ. ಸೂತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಿ ಅರ್ಥೈಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾದ್ದು ನಮ್ಮದೇ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯ. ನಮ್ಮೊಳಗಿನ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಸಂದೇಹಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಧು, ಸಂತರು ಉತ್ತರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ತಿದ್ದುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ನಡಾವಳಿಗಳನ್ನು ನಾವೇ ತಿದ್ದಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾದ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವರ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಮಾತೂ ಒಂದು ಶಾಸನದಂತೆ. ಪಾಲಿಸಲೇ ಬೇಕು. ಇಲ್ಲವಾದರೆ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗಿನ ತಂತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಗಳು ಇರುತ್ತವೆ.

ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಶ್ರೀ ತಾಟಾಂಬರಿ ಬಾಬಾಜಿ ಅವರ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದಗಳು ದೊರಕಲಿ. ಅವರು ಭೌತಿಕವಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಅಗಲಿ ಕೆಲವೇ ವರ್ಷಗಳಾಗಿವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮ ವಲಯದ ಸಂತರಾಗಿ ಸದಾಕಾಲ ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೇ ಇರುತ್ತಾರೆ.
Sri Tatambari Babaji, Tat Babaji... Avadhoota Babaji... he had many names.
As I saw him, he was a Himalayan yogi. He had ashrams in Badrinath and Haridwar. An Avadhoota — a renunciate. He used to provide food and clothing to thousands upon thousands of people. People from many parts of the world would come to see him. His original name, hometown, or age — he never disclosed any such details, as far as I know. People simply addressed him as "Babaji."
He wore only a loincloth made from a simple cloth (a "tat"). Hence the name Tat Babaji or Tatambari Babaji. His ashrams in Haridwar and Badrinath had no names. There were more people in Haridwar; Badrinath was quieter. His stature was tall, grand, and solemn — as firm as the Himalayas. His eyes were like lotuses — always filled with compassion. His speech was filled with tenderness and gentleness. His voice was like the sound of a bronze bell.
When you saw him, it felt as though your own father was calling you — with words like: “Come, have a mouthful of curd rice before you go.”
He would eat only one chapati. And even that, if someone was nearby, he would first offer a bite to them before eating himself.
His age? Who can say?
His feet reminded me of rosewood.
There is a saying that trying to write about him is like holding a lamp to the sun — unnecessary and inadequate. But I surely cannot do justice.
To me, Babaji was a divine radiance, a pure emotion, a clear Ganga river, sacred like the Himalayas, a state of elevated awareness.
Just folding your hands in front of him was enough — millions of egos would dissolve into dust. That much is true.
The spiritual world is mysterious, but it is a path of truth and righteousness.
This string of teachings from Babaji — this garland of wisdom — is a gift of that sacred and blessed presence.
I believe this will be helpful not only to those who seek to journey into the spiritual realm, but even to some ordinary people as well.
His words often felt like sutras (spiritual aphorisms).
We must unravel them within ourselves.
Only then will the knots within begin to untie — a special technique.
I’ve documented what he shared and am now placing it here.
It is our duty to interpret and understand those sutras ourselves.
To the inner questions and doubts we carry, saints and sages respond in spiritual ways.
They correct us, and they also give us the awareness to correct our own actions.
