Trail-blazing in its process and highly personalised in its detailing, the house occupies a long, narrow site wedged between a daunting cliff face and a busy stretch of road that winds along the beachfront.

Cloaked in dark cabinetry, the kitchen recesses into the southern wall where Fisher & Paykel appliances add to its quiet sophistication. An island is illuminated by a pendant that could be read as clouds or waves from the sea beyond — soft and transient against the elegant dance of art and architecture that defines this elemental kitchen.
